News Release: GEORGIA-PACIFIC MAKES LARGE DONATION OF PAPER PRODUCT TO AREA NONPROFITS

Georgia-Pacific has made a large donation of paper products to United Way of the Adirondack Region, Inc. This donation includes over 3,000 cases and approximately 144,000 rolls of Quilted Northern Ultra Plush® bath tissue, which was manufactured here at Georgia-Pacific’s Plattsburgh Mill. This large donation will be available to area non-profits through United Way and will be managed by their staff.

John Bernardi, President & CEO of United Way of the Adirondack Region, Inc. said, “We are truly grateful for the long history of generous support that Georgia- Pacific has provided to our organization and to many other community-based non-profits and initiatives. The company and its employees set a great example for community engagement and generosity.”

Steve Maharaj, Georgia-Pacific’s Director of Manufacturing at the Plattsburgh Mill, said, “ Our employees are glad to be part of a caring community, and we are proud to be a partner with United Way and The Northeast Group to help deliver on United Way’s mission of helping people care for one another.”

The donated paper product will be stored at a warehouse owned by The Northeast Group: Warehousing and Distribution Experts. The Northeast Group has donated the warehouse space and staff time to assist the United Way with distribution efforts for the donated bath tissue. Mike Carpenter, President & CEO of The Northeast Group, said, “Our company is pleased to assist with this great asset to the community and we are grateful for the opportunity that Georgia-Pacific has made available to United Way and its partner agencies.”
