The Noon Rotary Club of Plattsburgh

Foundational to Rotary’s mission is the tenet of “Service above Self”. Through the ongoing efforts of the members of Plattsburgh’s Noon Rotary Club activities populate the annual calendar of community fun. Its signature event is the Rotary Fishing Classic, held every year since 1985. This year, June 4-6, 2021, the 35th Annual Rotary Fishing Classic is set to launch. Historically, this tournament has welcomed up to 1200 fisher-folks to our region from all over the Northeast. One of the few tournaments to offer solely cash prizes, Rotary has awarded over a $1,000,000 to date – averaging over $25,000 per year. Current president Ellen Bouchard explained, “All proceeds from the event are reinvested in the community to support small and large organizations and individuals.”

For Rotarians, the ability to share a fellowship with likeminded leaders interested in making the investment of time, caring and effort in the community is foundational to its mission. Founded in 1926 by 20 local business leaders, the club now has more than one hundred members and is one of the pillars that makes the North Country a special place to live.
